Frequently Asked Questions

HOW LONG WILL MY TOXIN LAST?

Duration of effect is dependent on the type of botulinum toxin used. It usually lasts about 3-4 months, with some patients reporting 5 months before facial expressions return to baseline.

HOW MUCH TOXIN DO I NEED?

This depends on the areas you would like to treat. Every face is different and a consultation with a medical aesthetics doctor is advised.

HOW LONG AFTER A PEEL WILL I BE ABLE TO GO BACK TO WORK?

Most chemical peel treatments are very superficial or superficial and have almost no down time. Most common side effects include a mild burning sensation and redness. These usually subside in about an hour. With superficial peels no skin peeling is expected. Superficial chemical peels are sometimes referred to as a ‘lunchtime peel’ because of their short down time.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TOXIN AND FILLERS?

Botulinum toxin is a muscle relaxant that stops the chemical message from the nerve reaching the facial muscle telling it to contract. Thus, inhibiting the muscle movement.

Dermal fillers are hyaluronic acid injections used to replaced lost facial volume or enhance facial contours e.g. the cheeks, jaw, or lips.

ARE FILLERS PAINFUL?

Pain during procedures is dependent on the patient’s pain threshold. It also depends on the injection technique used e.g. needles or cannulas. A medical grade numbing cream (e.g. 30% Lidocaine) is used to numb the treatment area, minimizing discomfort as much as possible.
