Facial Analysis Consultion
What is it?
This consultation is the first step toward diagnosing skin and facial conditions and aids in developing a rejuvenation plan.
The following assessments form part of the assessment:
Skin Quality
Healthy skin is the foundation of a youthful appearance. Skin quality involves skin texture, tone and pigmentation, scarring, blemishes and hydration levels.
Facial Proportions
Balanced facial proportions are essential in how beauty and attractiveness are perceived. Understanding facial proportions allows for suggested enhancements that can restore facial balance without appearing artificial. This will include the analysis of the vertical thirds of the face, the horizontal fifths, as well as the relationship between the nose, lips and chin. Facial proportions are based on the golden ratio (1:1.61) the mathematical proportion found in all things pleasing to the eye.
Facial Asymmetries
Asymmetry is a natural part of every face, but pronounced differences can affect overall facial harmony. Based on this analysis corrective treatment suggestions can be made.
Wrinkles
Dynamic (expression) and static (deep-set) wrinkles are examined. These include lines on the forehead, around the eyes and mouth (nasolabial folds & marionette lines). Determining the cause of these lines will assist in treatment choice e.g. botulinum toxin, skin boosters, resurfacing treatments (chemical peels) or dermal fillers.
Volume Loss
Facial fat pads and the bony structure of the face diminish over time, leading to a hollowed or tired appearance. Common areas of volume loss include the temples, cheeks, under-eye area, lips and jawline.
Sagging & Skin Laxity
Loss of skin firmness is primarily due to the loss of collagen and elastin due to internal (aging) or external (sun damage, smoking, pollutants, poor diet) factors. It is also influenced by gravity and the face start to pull downward causing drooping brows, sagging jowls, and neck laxity. Non-invasive treatment options e.g. biostimulators can be explored.
